Today was day 1 of an adventure my girlfriend and I are embarking on to attempt to run around the world. It’s our first time doing this, so we’re hoping it will be an interesting experience!

Her name is Amy (not her real name) and she’s 28 years old with blonde hair, green eyes, weighs about 155 pounds. More importantly though, she has never run more than 100 miles in her life. She got into CrossFit shortly after moving here from Florida, but since then her experience has been limited to gym workouts that were created by people who don’t understand how damaging running 140 miles over 5 months can be on your body… So far today she has crunched 4 times up Carbone Curve with 615 reps @ 135 pounds… I’ve seen the videos of what this looks like on their website so I’m not worried about her getting hurt or anything but I just wanted to let you guys know 🙂 Hope everyone’s having fun in their own little adventures! What To Eat The Day Before Crossfit Competition?

During the week prior to a competition, you should consume an adequate amount of carbohydrates in order to fuel your training sessions. Carbohydrates promote proper fluid balance and provide energy for your body when required. The amount of carbohydrate consumption will depend on the intensity and duration of each workout bout. Here are some average recommendations for how much carbohydrate consumption prior to a competition would be ideal: Intensity Duration Per Day Goal 80 % fat burn 100 grams 1 hour before WOD 70 % fat burn 200 grams 2 hours before WOD 60-70% fat burn 300 grams 3 hours before WOD 50% fat burn 500 grams 4 hours before WOD 30-40% fat burn 800 grams > 6 hours before WOD 20-30% fat burn 1200 grams 7+ hours preperation 10+ hours preperation Being well hydrated is essential throughout the day prior to a meet, but it’s even more important when competing in extreme environments like Nevada desert heat or frigid Maine winters. It doesn’t matter if you think you’re “feeling great”, nor does it matter what time frame you say this is relative too… Get plenty of fluids in! Having adequate amounts of fluids must be continuously maintained through all times during the day. The majority our calories are consumed while working out, so its very important that we drink enough water during marathon training sessions to properly refuel our bodies after exercising at high intensities multiple days per week. You’ll want 1 quart (~16 oz) per hour

Although it may be tempting to quit once you’ve reached your goal weight, remember that there is no such thing as “being done.” If you’re ever feeling like working out isn’t for you anymore, responding to this instinct and restricting yourself from reaching new health and fitness goals causes an unhealthy vicious cycle. As the saying goes: the only time we truly stop growing is when we take our last breath (well not quite). For life-long exercisers like these, achieving their genetic potential and trying new things in the process continues long past what they thought was “getting old.” After years of doing CrossFit, boxing and mixing other forms of extreme training with weightlifting/conditioning workouts Mad Dog himself transformed into a lean mean fighting machine. If he can do it so can you! And if this hasn’t convinced you to take up CrossFit check out these incredible before-and-after transformations:
