The CrossFit Games are coming to San Diego. It always creates an electric atmosphere when the athletes start competing, and the women in particular make every contest more exciting. Today I want to look ahead at who will win on July 29, 2016. And of course it is no longer an individual competition; now you must fight among five teams (not six like last year). As for this season, while the men’s division has no clear favorite for X-Games gold, there already seems to be a clear winner for female team members: The Atherton Strong Women’s Team. What If You Want To Do Something Different Than The Wod At Crossfit??
You can do whatever you want! Nothing really is off limits. Use the WOD as a framework to work within your own programming, not against it. You can scale or modify any aspect of the workout to suit your needs, but be aware that this means modifying or scaling down your rest periods; if you are resting long between sets then run into problems with muscle failure (this is why high intensity strength workouts like CrossFit are best for burning fat!). At the end of each set let yourself rest to what ever level you want; I personally try and mimic one minute of rest time after every 4-5 reps; this allows me to go harder and longer without feeling like I’m running out of gas.
