I think it’s absolutely stupid to claim that dumbbells are better than barbells for heavy strength training. However, if you’re one of those guys that’s frustrated with their poor or non existent progress with barbell workout then look into using dumbbells instead…you’ll be surprised at how instantly effective they can become (even when compared to the rest of the weight lifting population)!
