How Many People Advance To Regionals Crossfit Open?

The Crossfit Open is a regional qualifier for the Crossfit Games. Opens have been around since 2010, and in that time, only 2 athletes from any one region have been able to advance on an annual basis. In past years, this has meant anywhere between 10 and 20 people can make it to the next level of qualifying: Regional competitions. Now we know that athletes who don’t advance at Regionals won’t get another chance until January 2019 when the Open invites once again compete at the Games. But what about all those other athletes? Can they still qualify? The answer is yes, but it is very difficult and not something you should take lightly. Here’s how: If your name isn’t on the list of top finishers (the top 16), you’re out of luck; end of story! There’s no way to repeat an open season with so little opportunity to qualify again in such a short period of time. That means in order for you or someone in your friend circle ever hope to qualify for the Games, be patient and wait until after January 2019!
