By Brett The Level 1 Cybex certification is an personal trainer certfication. It’s like a pre-certification for someone who wants to make money, run their own box, take photos of people exercising (for the web), be fit directors etc. I guess that’s why they are called “professional certifications”. When i took this level 1 it gave me some knowledge needed to teach others and allow them to be certified as trainers at my gym/box/company. It wasn’t very much though so don’t expect much after $300 bucks! I only went through half the videos cause 3 hours was too long for me but keep in mind you can go back and change things now!! Strength training is really important. It’s not just an optional piece of fitness, it’s a critical component to your overall health and physical well-being. Yet how many times have you heard the phrase “I didn’t train hard enough last week? It happens all too often, which means I’m not exactly in the best position for when my body needs it. That would be me when trying to use my lifting gear in CrossFit! The truth is there are several CrossFit exercises that are much more taxing on your central nervous system than other exercises, especially during strength rest days. Don’t fret though…there are plenty of alternatives that will give you great results for this type of workout if you don’t want to lift heavy today! Read on for some ideas! WOD Buddy Notes: 1) Rest between each set of 20 rep tempos before moving onto the next level instead of taking breaks between weight segments at 10 or 15 reps long. If you need more time than that between sets then start by doing less reps prior to working up to failure again after testing out 1RM for each exercise (i.e., do 6×6 @80% 1RM before 6×1 @90%). 2) Add one full weight segment at 10+ reps if needed after completing 3 rounds at 5 +3 or 6 +2 before moving onto cooldown work instead of taking only 45 seconds rest at the end. 3
