I never worried about my shoes in CrossFit. I’ve only had two pairs of CrossFit shoes; the Reebok Zigtech Elite is my favorite, and it works great in most situations including grip for rope climbs or smashing boxes with the bar. If something is good enough to make me do it over and over again, it works! The other pair was an old pair of Asics running shoes that were too soft; they didn’t do well at all with rope climbing or any heavy lifting that required traction. These are also Reebok Solar Boost trainers (also known as the “Magma” trainers), but these work much better for weightlifting movements like snatches and clean & jerk. Though I have read posts where some people dislike them because they don’t have any support, this doesn’t bother me at all since this type of shoe has no support at all while doing lifts off a box or platform!
