Stick to protein. It’s important to keep protein intake high after the competition. Protein is glutamine, which helps you recover faster. When your body doesn’t have enough dietary proteins, it starts using up muscle tissue for energy instead of repairing and building new muscle tissue. Glutamine is essential for helping repair damaged or worn out muscle tissue, so if your muscles are already in good shape then your recovery will not be hindered by a lack of food intake. You may notice that some people after a workout just grab anything they can get their hands on and eat it not caring what nutrients they’re taking in because food does not matter at this point anyway due to the huge amounts of calories consumed immediately post-workout – this happens because we cannot distinguish between healthy toxins and real food when we haven’t eaten in hours!
