I have been a member for over 3 years, and the only reason I am leaving is because of how aggressive all of you CrossFitters are. I was at a party last week and while listening to the guests conversation one woman boasted that she was going to be a “super star” in CrossFit this year. Another person said that her trainer told her that if she wanted to succeed in CF then you had to train with a lot more aggression than before, essentially taking away from certain skills your coach may have worked on with you from practice sessions etc… where as before its hard work but there was something forgiving about it. With the amount of aggression these people were talking about not practicing many things these people would loose.
When did this start? Was there ever a time when the standard said “no signs of injury” until another person did something out of the norm where he/she stepped back and actually spoke up about what they felt could be done better or how they felt uncomfortable? The answer would seem to be…. never!!! The idea that someone has earned their own right do what they want out side the prescribed box set routines seems ludicrous when we think about it!! This idea starts in Kids sports all kinds of ways when schools say kids don’t get hurt doing multiple sports so let them try any sport they want!! This mentality needs to stop at any level whether its starting in football, weightlifting, gymnastics or softball! For example
