When doing a Crossfit workout you want to use your forearms and hands. Once weaknesses or lack of strength become an issue for you, then these are the movements that might be causing it. The hand grip is probably your biggest weakness when it comes to progressing in Crossfit because you really need good forearms in order to move weights well. If you can’t get tight or lock out your hands how are you going to do squats, pull-ups, push presses, etc.. There are two main ways you can improve your hand grip. The first one is by practicing real life situations where things aren’t super ideal for gripping onto something effectively i.e., when using a screwdriver in the garage versus using it in a garage gym with big wheels on it…or when pulling heavy stuff out of the truck versus grabbing barbells at the gym….and so on. Over time this will allow you to get more specific about how much weight, distance what direction nutcracker grip should be used when certain things are being handled..etc..This is hard!
