Post 45 I’ve been doing CrossFit for about a year now and it’s my new passion! I love the workout and the community, but at times it can be difficult to think with all those bells and whistles. Where is God? Where is your soul as you try to hammer through your ability with this “sport”? Every fitness facility has their rules – make sure they are for your health. If you have a personal trainer, ask what he or she tells their clients. If the trainer thinks that counting reps will keep them injury-free, then count. If they think that real functional movements should trump everything else, then by all means do that exercise first before going into a run of jumping jacks or mountain climbers. It’s up to each individual person whether they agree with these personal directions from their trainers. But no matter what type of fitness program one follows, remember why we work out: to be healthy! Ideally, you want to work out six days a week. However, that’s not something you’ll be able to hold onto for long. You’ll quickly discover that keeping up with CrossFit is exhausting. It requires a lot of energy and focus, especially for beginners who are new to the sport. Plus, there are all the other things you have to keep up with around your schedule as well during slow periods. If you can find time to fit in CrossFit two or three times a week—maybe not every day if you’re an athlete already—you should do it!
