The answer is in the long haul. On average, the process of building muscle takes approximately 8-12 weeks. Here’s what you can expect in that time period:

Week 1. The first week involves concentrating on weight training and crossfit style cardio techniques. It’s not uncommon to see your strength increasing by 20% during this first week depending on your previous fitness level when starting CrossFit. You should start seeing noticeable changes in your body composition–your body will be much more toned and strong looking over the next few weeks as you continue to lift weights 7 days a week at varying intensities for an hour each day (including weekends). Expect to feel sore after each workout but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are being productive or getting stronger–muscle soreness is just a sign that you are working hard!
