Jolly: The CrossFit Open is not a race, and we highly recommend people start training for it as soon as possible. However, if you’ve never competed at any level before and can’t commit to having said competitions scheduled in your busy work or school week, we absolutely recommend starting with an 8-week cycle. This would give you enough time to include the workout of the day (WOD) style of workouts along with some strength training toward gaining that overall fitness. We often suggest doing this first so that you get a good understanding of how all three different types of training sessions will fit into your life.
