He told us that based on his experience and that of others, 4-6 days a week was optimum for building strength and conditioning and that elite athletes trained between 5-10 hours a week depending on their sport. But I made the mistake of thinking you could just wake up every day to do CrossFit, eat well and see gains if you wanted them. Not so much. Even with James at my side saying three hours a day really isn’t needed to maximize your results, I still questioned the intensity level we were doing during our 3:00 am WODs (Warm Up; we started using this term as workout time came into daily use). So after work one day, we went back to other things like sitting in traffic or sitting back playing video games or sitting around watching TV until around midnight when we’d begin again with our 3:00 WODs. After all those “breakdown” sessions, it got to be too much as far as my sanity went! So as the weeks wore on I ended up cutting back our overall training time by 30% because working out almost 7 hours a week just wasn’t working for me anymore – but then again maybe it would have been better because then I still think about going “all in” which sometimes has its benefits – though it’s not what’s best for my body right now either…it might be worth experimenting with some difficult workouts to see what happens! One of the big questions we get asked is: What’s the average salary for a Crossfit affiliate owner? And that’s an important question because you need to know how much money you can expect to make if you want to own your own gym, but more than likely not making over $100k or so. That said, there are many ways to earn money as a CrossFit affiliate owner. Some of our members have found lots of personal sponsors. Even just one low level sponsor can mean extra income each month depending upon how their sponsorship agreement works. Some sponsors will pay athletes cash fees related directly tied to performance. Others will pay money based on your monthly site revenue or number of people on your team (its still possible). And then some sponsors only allow certain athletes on their team (for example, some sponsors might only like women). But remember, these things can change once you start growing towards bigger numbers and later down the road when it gets tougher to find more specific sponsors for your particular gym or business model. Again though its always nice getting any type of consistent sources of revenue whether its online advertising ads like Google Adsense (smaller website owners), local retail shops (grocery store owners), local restaurants (restaurant business owners) etc…so that way at some point down the road I see myself needing someone who knows how that works instead of me trying to figure all that out myself 🙂 Over time this would become something I could rely
